2018 Reading Lights Finalist: MAE AND THE MOON

We are excited to announce that MAE AND THE MOON by Jami Gigot has been chosen for the 2018 Reading Lights!

Reading Lights, a Vancouver Public Library and CWILL BC partnership project, celebrates the work of B.C. children’s book authors and illustrators and offers unexpected encounters with an array of stories for children and their families near parks, playgrounds, schools and libraries throughout Vancouver. Intended to spark an interest in stories and reading, the program features excerpts of books and illustrations on lamp posts across the city for all to enjoy.

What a Weekend: Celebrations for Grandmother Thorn!

We had a whirlwind weekend finally meeting the author of Grandmother Thorn, Katey Howes, and celebrating the release with her and illustrator Rebecca Hahn. The weekend started Friday when we all met at the Portland Japanese Garden, fitting for the setting of this beautiful book! We followed that up with two packed events at Powell's and Green Bean Books on Saturday and Sunday.

Monday Is Wash Day School Visit

Yesterday was MaryAnn Sundby's first author visit to a first grade class in Aurora, Colorado. We don't always share the readings, signings, and visits our authors do but the photos MaryAnn sent were so sweet and heartwarming, just like her story, we just had to share.

She also brought a rinse tub, clotheslines, and a bottle of bluing!
