As of January 1, 2017 our Submission Guidelines have changed. Please review this page before submitting your story.
Please read children’s picture books. We are looking for something unique that has not been done before - an interesting story that captures a moment with a timeless feel. We are looking for picture driven stories for children ages 2-8.
Please do not send early readers, middle grade, or YA manuscripts. No religious or holiday themed stories. Please do not submit your story with page breaks or illustration notes. Do not submit a story with doodles or personal photographs. Do not send your “idea” for a story. Send your story in manuscript form.
We are not looking for:
Lullaby stories or stories about how much I love you; or my younger brother annoys me; or there’s a new baby or puppy in the house; or there’s a monster under my bed; or I want to turn my sister into a monster; or you’re the star in my heaven. We are not interested in your summer vacation or something sweet you did with your nana.
*We want something fresh and original. Please read our books to see what type of stories we publish.
If you're interested in gaining insight to our submission process you can read two essays called "You Can Judge A Book By Its Title" and "The Picture Book Idea Syndrome" written by Ripple Grove Press President and Founder, Rob Broder, here.
As of January 1, 2017 we will no longer open attachments. Please submit your cover letter and story in the body of the email.
**Only illustrators with a story to tell should submit their manuscript as a PDF.
Submit your story with a cover letter that includes a summary of your story, a brief biography of yourself, and contact information.
Authors do not need to submit illustrations. **Please note: if your manuscript is not in the body of the email, your story will not be read.
When submitting artwork DO NOT send original art. Send samples with a brief biography and contact information.
Given the volume of manuscripts Ripple Grove Press receives, we are no longer able to individually respond to each submission. Please allow 5 months for us to review your submission. If we are interested in your story, you can expect to hear from us within that time. If you do not hear from us after that time, we are not interested in publishing your story. It’s not you, it’s us! We receive thousands of submissions and only publish a few books each year. Don’t give up!
Please email your manuscript to firstname.lastname@example.org. Please include the title of your story in the subject line.
We also accept submissions by mail to:
